Khattar asks heads of zila parishad to work with dedication

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today asked newly-elected heads of zila parishads to work with dedication to make programmes like 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' and other schemes related to education, cleanliness, social security a success.
A budget of Rs three crore has been released to each zila parishad for development works, he said while presiding over a meeting of newly elected chairmen and vice chairmen of zila parishads here, a release quoted him as saying.
The Chief Minister said that it was being considered to increase the house rent allowance given to chairmen of zila parishads.
He said that the government was laying emphasis on decentralisation of power and public representatives of panchayati raj institutions could be assigned with more responsibilities.
An 11-member committee would be constituted with the consent of gram sabhas in each village to prepare estimates of development works, he said.
Khattar suggested that commercial establishments operate on land belonging to zila parishads to generate new sources of income. He also directed them to organise yoga programmes in their respective areas on the occasion of International Yoga Day on June 21.
Development and Panchayat Minister O P Dhankar said about 72,000 representatives have been elected to the panchayati raj institutions, most of whom follows the BJP ideology.
