Killing of policemen an act of cowards: Omar

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today condemned the killing of four police personnel in Sopore area of Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district and termed it as "an act of cowards".
In a condolence message, the Chief Minister expressed his solidarity with the bereaved families and the police force.
Police jawans sacrifice their lives for the protection and safety of the people and exhibit highest degree of bravery, he said.
Omar conveyed his sympathy to the bereaved families and prayed for peace to the departed souls.
In a major strike, militants today killed four policemen in Sopore area.
Militants opened indiscriminate fire on a police team near Haigam, 65 kms from here, on Sopore-Kupwara road this evening, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, Abdul Gani Mir told PTI.

"Four cops -- a head constable, constable and two Special Police Officers (SPOs) -- were martyred in the attack," Mir said.
