Lt Governor Kiran Bedi today visited on her bicycle the A P J Abdul Kalam Residential Colony in the neighbouring Uppalam Assembly segment.
This was in keeping with her promise made some weeks ago that she would visit residential colonies every week end to know the amenities available to the residents.
She had already visited earlier on bicycle the Police Residential quarters in neighbouring Gorimedu and the Government Staff quarters in Lawspet.
Accompanied by officials of the Department of Electricity, the Municipality of Puducherry and the Raj Nivas, who all came in their bicycles, she held talks with residents and fishermen by halting at various points and also announced on the spot decisions to dispose of their grievances.
Opposition AIADMK legislator A Anbalagan who represents the Uppalam segment was also present and explained to the Lt Governor the various requirements of the housing colony.
A release from office of Lt Governor said that the Lt Governor announced during her visit formation of a Residents Welfare Association for the Abdul Kalam nagar with the legislator as its patron.
