Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi will join hands with civic workers on World Environment Day tomorrow to take up 'Swacch Bharat Abhiyan'.
"We will soon clean up our areas by joining hands with municipal workers and it will be a sustained drive," she said.
Addressing a joint meeting of police personnel and sanitary workers of Puducherry and Oulgaret Municipalities, she said she wanted to see Puducherry getting the national for cleanliness.
According to the official, the EC said the suspension had
created a vacuum as regards the post of Electoral Registration Officer "who is currently associated with the crucial and time-bound ongoing electoral poll revision process".
He added that it also directed the Puducherry administration to "stay the suspension order forthwith" and asked the government to apprise it of the allegation against Sivakumar "to take a final call on whether he should continue to be an ERO or not".
A case under the Information Technology Act had been registered against Sivakumar following a complaint from the Officer on Special Duty at Raj Nivas.
Earlier, PWD Minister and Puducherry Congress chief A Namassivayam had questioned Bedi's decision to suspend the officer, adding that the Lt Governor had "failed to follow proper procedure while deciding to act against the officer".
On the other hand, the chief minister has been maintaining that there was a clear demarcation of powers and subjects between the Lt Governor and his council of ministers.
