"We had a blast during the shooting phase which went on for a fortnight in a puja mandap set in Bag Bazar, the hub of barorari puja in north Kolkata. Frankly I could sense I missed the fervour of being part of a crowd standing in a puja pandal," Koel said at a meet to mark the release of the movie, produced by Cinenine Productions, on September 14.

"This time I intend to go for pandal hopping as well squeezing time from Mallickbarir pujo. Would love to see some big pujas, I missed earlier," Koel, who had earlier turned up in another puja based film Devipaksha, nine years back, said.

The bubbly actor, who would term Doshhomi as shades different from Debipaksha said it was a entertainer with puja as the backdrop filled with dollops of masti and fun unlike Devipaksha which more dealt with other sides of human nature.

About switching to different roles, from masala entertainer Paglu 2 to Hemlock Society and now Doshhomi, the last two directed by more avant garde young directors, Koel said "from Meghna in Hemlock Society to Tuli in Doshomi, none of the characters are like me."

"But when I portray a character like Meghna I am transformed into her and then as I return home there is no baggage. The trance is broken. In Doshhomi again I play a tomboyish character, which is so unlike me, but the changeover was not as much deep-rooted." MORE
