Seeking to bridge the gap between urban and semi-urban regions of the country besides promoting varied richness of Indian arts, the second edition of the CIMA Awards: The Kolkata Art Festival 2017 will be held in February next year.
Organised by city-based CIMA art gallery, the one-month- long festival, beginning February 4, will have multiple components including the biennial CIMA Awards function and a series of exhibitions on multi-disciplinary projects, workshops and seminars.
"This year the project has been expanded to include other allied creative disciplines and activities like design, architecture, cinema, performance art, symposia, talks, conversations and workshops through various collateral projects in collaborations with leading universities, agencies and institutions from across the world including a major International Symposium," CIMA director Rakhi Sarkar told reporters here.
She said that the Symposium will be providing a holistic experience and overview of the arts.
"The project is fast emerging as a major platform in India for artists, art cognoscenti, scholars, and meeting of creative minds across the world," she stated.
A large exhibition of visual arts is expected to travel from Germany and will be showcased to coincide with the CIMA Awards show, she added.
Alongside art exhibits, the festival will also have directors of leading museums, scholars and art historians participating in discussions.
Music and cinema are two inclusions in the art festival.
The events will be spread over different venues in the city.
