The football crazy fans of Kolkata who have missed out on booking tickets for the FIFA U-17 World Cup final, scheduled on October 28, will get another chance in the fourth phase of ticket sales, beginning October 6 when the tournament kicks off.
All the tickets, approximately 35,000, have been sold out in three phases for the Salt Lake Stadium summit clash but FIFA local organising committee project director Joy Bhattacharjya today said there were still some left, which would be sold in the fourth phase.
"All tickets in three phases are sold out but that does not mean there are no more tickets," he told reporters in a media interaction here.
Overwhelmed by the response of city's football fans, the FIFA local organising committee will release more tickets in the denominations of Rs 80, 200, 400 and 800 (Category 4 to 1) on October 6.
Bhattacharjya also said tickets for other big games, including the Round of 16 and quarterfinals were still available.
"A lot of tickets for England and Chile games are still available for the fans. We are glad Kolkata has some quality games in the group stage that include the likes of players such as Jadon Sancho, who is currently training with senior Manchester City squad."
Bhattacharjya also confirmed that the ticket sales in Delhi for the India matches witnessed massive interest for the group A games, also involving Ghana, USA and Colombia.
"Sales in Delhi has definitely picked up after it was announced that India will play at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in the capital. But there's still a long way to go," he said.
Bhattacharjya blamed internet "connectivity issues" in Goa for lack of ticket sales and said physical tickets are sold in the region.
"Goa is a special case. If you go to Goa, there is huge connectivity issue. So want to ensure that no one misses out on the World Cup and there will be big teams like Brazil playing in Goa," he said.
Bhattacharjya promised to take fans closer to the game through various exciting fan engagement activities such as the Mission XI Million festivals and the Trophy Experience, beginning August 17.
"This is the first time fans across any sport in India will get to witness a real winners trophy and not a replica. The FIFA U-17 World Cup trophy will tour the six host cities, presenting a chance to see the real trophy before the eventual winners lift it on October 28," he said.
