Quick to judge his rival, Kumar found his touch in the drops and often caught his opponent with good interceptions and drives. At no stage was the Indian, seeded 3/4 in this championship, was troubled as he finished the match in his favour in just 27 minutes.
Earlier, Kumar had beaten Edmon Lopez-Molier of Spain 11-6, 11-4, 11-8 to enter the last sixteen. Another Indian Madhav Dhingra did well to reach the third round with a 11-7, 11-6, 11-2 win voer Callum Lawton of Zimbabwe before going down to Youssef Soliman of Egypt 11-1, 11-4, 11-2.
