Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangthan (KVS) has underlined the need for not only the physical but also the emotional, creative, and intellectual growth of its students.
In a letter to all KV principals, additional commissioner (Academic) U N Kharware, has laid out a roadmap to ensure holistic development of students.
"We have to ensure that the students must come up with desired learning outcome, physical fitness, interpersonal communication and they must exhibit the personality traits, emotional balance expected from the students of a particular class, apart from reaching the expected level of creativity, practical appreciation of music, art, literature, drama and films," Kharware said in his letter.
"The parents expect the school to be a place where not just the physical growth but also the emotional, cognitive and intellectual growth of the students be visible over the years," he said.
The letter said it is up to the principals (of KVs) to ensure that the mental, physical and emotional capabilities of the students improve optimally.
The roadmap gives several parameters that parents normally use to assess and evaluate progressive growth of their child.
The parameters of improved learning, pride in learning by doing, ability to lead and being a useful team member and cognitive growth of the students will be implemented and monitored by the concerned deputy and assistant commissioners at all the regional offices of KVS.
The roadmap also outlines empowered classrooms for ensuring Power of Understanding, Learning, Skills and Excellence (PULSE) concerning students.
It envisages the concerned assistant and deputy commissioners of regional KVS offices to assess the milestone achieved and verify the key result areas of KVs in the region.
Nearly 1.17 lakh boys and girls study in over 1100 KVs in different states and union territories of the country.
