Taking note of instances of dog bites and rabies cases in different parts of the country, students in Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) will now be imparted lessons on dog behaviour, post-bite care and rabies prevention in schools.
The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has tied up with Federation of Indian Animal Protection Organisations (FIAPO) for imparting education on the subject in its over 1,100 schools.
"The decision has been taken following a series of instances of dog bite and rabies cases in different parts of the country. The education programme will be supported by FIAPO's education material and efforts of local animal protection groups and individuals," a KVS official said.
In the programme students will be taught about basic dog behaviour, post-bite care and rabies prevention.
