L-G threat to unleash CBI shows crisis in federal democracy:

A day after Najeeb Jung rejected its request to dissolve the Shunglu Committee, the AAP government today alleged the L-G was openly "threatening" to unleash the CBI upon it which highlights the "deep crisis in our federal democracy".
The city government reiterated its advice to the L-G to dissolve the Committee, which is examining 400 files on decisions taken by the AAP regime, and "ward off" any attempt to create a "constitutional crisis" in the national capital.
Jung in a press statement yesterday had said the "truth hidden behind 400 files" must come out and added that these files show "grave misdemeanours", and "are in the process of being referred to the CBI for investigation".

The party said it's a matter "deep regret" that the Centre's-appointee (the L-G) is "openly threatening to unleash" the CBI upon the democratically-elected government.
"His (Jung) public statement only goes to highlight the deep crisis in our federal democracy. Increasingly, the high offices of Governors and Lieutenant Governors are being politically misused to sabotage democratically elected governments," it said.
"This decline in institutional integrity needs to be arrested at once, if larger national interest and democracy itself is to be preserved," the government added.

The AAP dispensation also said "it is a new low in the already blatant politicisation and misuse of the premier investigation agency of the country" and "unmasks" the "ulterior motive" behind setting up of the Committee.

Yesterday, the Delhi Cabinet had passed a resolution advising Jung to dissolve the committee headed by former CAG V K Shunglu.
However, Jung turned down the advice and gave the committee a six-week extension.
"...Instead of addressing the constitutional issues of legality and propriety raised by the Government of Delhi (while advising the L-G to dissolve the committee), Jung regretfully chose to respond in an unconstitutional and partisan manner," the AAP government further said.
"This decline in institutional integrity needs to be arrested at once, if larger national interest and democracy itself is to be preserved," it said.
