After rising 5.15 per cent to Rs 1,159 intra-day at BSE, shares of the company later lost some of the initial gains and finally ended at Rs 1,122.15, up 1.81 per cent.
At NSE, shares of the company rose by 1.85 per cent to close at Rs 1,122.05.
Volumewise, 4.71 lakh shares of the company changed hands at BSE and over 47 lakh shares were traded at NSE during the day.
The company had clocked a net profit of Rs 866.5 crore in the year-ago period.
Total income rose by 8 per cent to Rs 25,829.3 crore in the October-December period from Rs 23,847.9 crore during the same quarter in FY15.
L&T won orders worth Rs 38,528 crore at the group level during the quarter. The international order inflow during the quarter at Rs 11,115 crore constituted 29 per cent of the total order inflow.
