"The government is committed to provide quality health services to the poor people. Private hospitals should also cooperate with the state to provide quality health services," Patnaik said after inaugurating a centre of L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) here.
Besides residents of the area, people of other adjoining distrits will be benefited and get proper treatment for their eye ailment at the Centre, the chief minister said, while urging the hospital authorities to provide free treatment to the poor people.
The new facility happens to be LVPEI's 15th secondary centre and the third in Odisha.
The LVPEI set up the Arjun Waney Eye Centre at Berhampur in partnership with Savitri Waney Charitable Foundation and Mission for Vision.
The Arjun Waney Eye Centre at Berhampur marks the augmentation of LVPEI's services in the state, which began in 2006 at Bhubaneswar.
According to Dr Gullapalli N Rao, Founder and Chairperson, L V Prasad Eye Institute, "These Eye Centres in Odisha will be a continuum to LVPEI's vision of providing good quality, permanent and affordable eye care for rural India. The Berhampur eye care facility will be a part of LVPEI network and provide high quality comprehensive eye care services to all, irrespective of their socio-economic status."
