Labour Ministry appoints Tata Sons as knowledge partner

Partnership entails working closely with the ministry in the areas of employability and entrepreneurship

Tata Sons, the promoter of the major operating companies of the Tata group, today said it has been appointed by the Ministry of Labour and Employment as knowledge partner for work in employability and entrepreneurship.

The partnership was formalised in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that was signed today, the company said in a statement.

"The partnership entails working closely with the ministry in the areas of employability and entrepreneurship by providing thought leadership, conceptual frameworks, policies, and processes," it said.

Commenting on the partnership, N S Rajan, Member - Group Executive Council and Group Chief Human Resources Officer (Tata group) said: "We will endeavour to work closely with the ministry to realise the vision which is compelling and inspirational. We are excited and look forward to partnering with the ministry in this journey."

Ministry of Labour and Employment Director General Alok Kumar said: "Tata Sons has been a pioneer in the area of nation-building and we look forward to their role as knowledge Partner to enhance employability and entrepreneurship."

Under the partnership, Tata Sons will also play a strong advocacy role in actively promoting women's participation in the labour force and in the area of affirmative action, the statement said.

The Tata group comprises over 100 operating companies in seven business sectors: communications and information technology, engineering, materials, services, energy, consumer products and chemicals.

It has firms operating in more than 100 countries across six continents and exporting products and services to over 150 countries.
