Labour Ministry gets Rs 7,700cr expenditure budget for FY19

The Labour Ministry's total expenditure has been pegged higher at Rs 7,700 crore for 2018 -19 against the revised estimate of Rs 6,580.90 crore for the current fiscal, according to the Budget 2018-19 document.
The government had provided Rs 7,188.38 crore for current fiscal in the budget 2017-18 earlier.
The government has provided Rs 50 crore for creation of National Platform of Unorganised Workers and allotment of an Aadhaar seeded identification numbers.
It had allocated Rs 100 crore under this scheme meant for social security of workers in the current fiscal year 2017-18, however, only Rs 35 lakh were spent.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Protsahan Yojana, an allocation of Rs 1,652.09 crore has been meant within the overall grant of Rs 7,700 crore.
The scheme has been designed to incentivise employers for generation of new employment, as government pays employers' contribution of 8.33 per cent of wages under EPS scheme in respect of new employees for first three years.
It includes the funds allocated for North East, Scheduled Caste Component (SCC) & Scheduled Tribe Component (STC).
The Labour Ministry is expected to start registration of unorganised sector workers from April this year which is expected to complete by the fiscal end (2018-19).
