Police today arrested a 30-year-old labourer from Bina town in Sagar district for allegedly kidnapping the 18-month-old daughter of his employer apparently over the latter's failure to clear his payment, and rescued the baby.
"Palak, daughter of canteen contractor Dinesh Rajput, was rescued and her abductor Halkeram Ahirwar was arrested," said Aerodrome police station inspector Baljeet Singh.
Rajput allegedly owed Rs 9,000 to Ahirwar towards his wages as the latter had worked for him.
"Ahirwar yesterday demanded his pending wage from Rajput who told him that he will clear it on March 20. After this, Ahirwar reached Rajput's house when the latter was not there and took his daughter out after telling her family members that he was going out with her on a stroll and fled" Singh said.
Initially, it appears that Ahirwar kidnapped the baby to get his dues, he said, adding that police are investigating whether any ransom call was made.
