The woman's body was found lying in a pool of blood this morning at their house in Chudiali village.
After the murder, accused Gopal, who belongs to Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh and is under police net, called up his friend Raju and said that a notorious gang of robbers struck at his house and killed his wife, police said.
However, suspecting a foul play, the friend informed the matter to the villagers, who told this to police and after that Gopal was arrested, they said.
