For the first time, the Lamas ventured outside the rugged region of Ladakh to visit one of the most important Buddhist monasteries for a week ending today.
The monks were selected from various monasteries in Ladakh to participate in the Army's 'Operation Sadhbhavana'.
For the Lamas, the visit to Tawang was akin to encountering their cultural twins during their stay at Tawang where they visited the Tawang monastery, Urgeling Gompa (birth place of sixth Dalai Lama), Khinmay Gompa and Gorsam Chorten, official sources said.
The Lamas were overwhelmed by the magnificence of the Tawang War Memorial and expressed their appreciation for the visit conducted by the Tawang Brigade.
