Ansari, in a function organised by Urdu daily Nai Duniya, said while films have had a huge impact in spreading Urdu, technology can be used to promote the language among the new generation such as those in schools who are not learning Urdu.
The vice president said Urdu journalism in particular has a special place in the journalism sphere and "its mood has usually and mostly been revolutionary".
"Urdu journalism has given proof of its revolutionary character in every era and it has given life to revolutions. There is no need to ready the cannons or to raise swords - what can be said through good journalism usually reaches its destination...," he said.
He also lauded the role of film industry which had a big hand in the revival of Urdu, he said.
