Three policemen and a mediaperson too were injured in the violence.
Inspector Prasanna Kumar of Siddipet rural police station said that a 35 years old man called Srihari, resident of Jillel in Karimnagar district (10 km from Ibrahimpur), was allegedly assaulted by supporters of Ibrahimpur sarpanch Lakshmi claiming that his motorbike had hit her.
Srihari was in the area for his work as an accountant in a beedi factory. He was taken to hospital where he died.
His angry relatives and residents of his village today came to Ibrahimpur with his body, and attacked the sarpanch and her family members and torched her house.
DIG, Nizamabad Range, Naveen Chand, and superintendents of police of Medak and Karim Nagar districts visited the spot and appealed the people to maintain peace.
Heavy security has been deployed at the village.
