Apparently unable to make headway in the lady teacher's alleged burning to death case, Crime Branch (CB) of Odisha Police today put dismissed sub-inspector (SI) of schools Netrananda Dandsena under polygraph test at the state Forensic Science Laboratory here.
Though the CB has been entrusted with the probe into the sensational killing of the lady teacher, who refused to withdraw a molestation case, at Tikiri UP school in Rayagada, the state's elite investigating wing has not make any significant progress.
The CB is yet to arrest the man (other than Dandsena) who allegedly set afire the lady teacher for not withdrawing the molestation case against Dandsena.
Prime accused, Dandsena was arrested from the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border on October 30 by Rayagada district police.
The CB was expected to nab the person who actually poured kerosene on the teacher before setting her on fire.
This apart, the CB also finds it difficult to extract any information from Dandsena who had been in remand since two days.
Meanwhile, DGP Prakash Mishra said anybody can be questioned if the polygraph test report conducted on the accused revealed the role of any other person in the case.
Before breathing her last at a hospital in Visakhapatnam on November 1 after fighting for life for five days, the lady teacher had named Dandsena and others.
The state government at an urgent meeting took several decisions to ensure that the culprits involved in crimes against women did not go scot free.
The National Commission for Women has formed a two-member team which is likely to visit Rayagada on Monday to enquire into the matter, chairperson Mamta Sharma said.
