Shillong Lajong Football Club today announced signing of three young promising players from Meghalaya, Assam and Manipur with the hope that their inclusion will improve the club's prowess this I-League season.
Defenders Aibanbha Kupar Dohling and Konsham Chinglensana Singh and forward Milan Basumatary completed their move to the club and they are expected to fill in the gaps created by Minchol Son and Cornell Glen.
Aiban, a local talent who plays at right back position, is known to be quick and strong. He started his football career as a teenager with Shillong Lajong FC in the Academy before moving to Tata Football Academy (Jamshedpur) in 2011.
Chinlensana is comfortable at centre back position when he played in the Under-15 team of Mahindra United in the MUPC Cup in 2010.
He joined the Tata Football Academy in 2012 and proved his credentials when his team finished runners-up before being part of the U-19 squad and was crowned champions.
The skillful Manipuri defender was also part of India U-19 Squad that travelled to China for an exposure trip and played against Clubs like Shanghai 2000 and the China U-17 and U-19 teams there.
Hailing from Assam, Milan Basumatary started his career in Kokrajhar Football Academy and can adapt both as a striker and an attacking midfielder.
Milan had moved to AIFF elite academy in Goa from Kokrajhar's SAI Academy when he was a 15-year-old.
He has won the U-19 I-League and as head coach Thangboi Singto hoped, his inclusion in the club will provide added impetus at the attacking front where the club is currently in trouble with the Trinidad and Tobago striker Cornell Glen, moving to Kolkata.
