Members of Youth Congress today held a mock protest, coinciding with the International Yoga Day, against Prime Minister Narendra Modi over External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj "assistance" to scam-tainted former IPL chief Lalit Modi.
Wearing masks of Modi, Swaraj, yoga exponent Ramdev and Lalit Modi, the Congress workers pretended doing Yoga at the Jantar Mantar here.
While maintaining that Youth Congress is not against Yoga, the party leaders said that this is the 54th event of Modi in power but the farmers of the country and poor people are standing "blindfolded".
The Youth Congress workers have put out posters with caricature of Modi under the caption 'Lalit aasan, mauj Modi ka yog shivir'.
"Modi government is celebrating events while farmers are committing suicide and poor are dying because of hunger," Youth Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Brar said.
The party organised the event on a day Modi performed Yoga at Rajpath.
Meanwhile, senior party leader Anand Sharma once again demanded a Supreme Court monitored SIT probe into the Lalit Modi episode.
Charging the External Affairs Minister, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and Mumbai Police Commissioner of gross "impropriety" by facilitating Lalit Modi's travel document, he said the Prime Minister should not expect the issue to die down by remaining silent.
"This nexus must be probed. We do not trust this government. We reiterate and demand SIT probe monitored by the Supreme court," he said.
