Virtually kick-starting the Janata Parivar's campaign for the Bihar assembly polls later this year, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad today asked people to vote for the party comprising him and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as it was the "real home" of poor.
"It is time for all of you (poor and downtrodden people) to unite behind us and ensure Janata Parivar's victory in the crucial assembly polls later this year to stop BJP's juggernaut in Bihar," he said at Prajapati Samaj Chetna rally at the Gandhi Maidan.
Describing himself as flag bearer of social justice all his life, Prasad made a passionate appeal to the poor and downtrodden people to treat Janata Parivar as their "real home" for all times.
"All my life, I have fought for the rights of the backward and poor people starting with implementation of the Mandal Commission report to provide for 27 per cent reservation for the OBCs in government jobs in 1990," the RJD supremo said.
Seeking to establish an emotional chord with the people belonging to Kumhar caste known to ply trade in pottery, Prasad described BJP as a kankar (pebble) and asked them to throw it out as they do to such objects from soiled earth while making pots and related products.
With the blessings of poor and backward people, Janata Parivar will sweep the assembly polls with two-third majority and will form the next government in Bihar, Lalu claimed.
The leader implored his traditional vote bank to ensure that a resurgent BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi meets a waterloo in Bihar.
