Jhalu Karmali, a resident of Hisimdag village of Ramgarh district, attempted to hang himself on yesterday in the afternoon but the officials prevented him from doing so after the incident was brought to their notice.
The youth was later handed over to the police, sources said.
Karmali was admitted to sadar hospital and was later referred to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi.
Karmali told reporters that he belongs to a landless tribal family and was given 6 decimal land by the state but the land was forcibly occupied by a family.
