In a statement, the 34-year-old "The Killer Inside Me" star called the lawsuit "baseless and without merit", reported People magazine.
"We strongly stand behind our products and the responsibility we have to our consumers. We are steadfast in our commitment to transparency and openness," the statement read.
"I know my children, Honor and Haven, are growing up in a safer home because of our products."
Alba insisted that her company had labelled the ingredients in its products as accurate as possible.
The actress also talked about the mission behind the company. "I started The Honest Company to develop safe and effective products not just for my children, but for families everywhere," read the statement.
"In fact, prior to launching The Honest Company, I began lobbying Congress to require that ingredients used in everyday products are tested for safety prior to entry into the marketplace."
Rubin is seeking at least USD 5 million for damages.
