Lawyers decide against defending two accused of gangrape

The Bar Association of Ranga Reddy District Courts has decided against defending the two accused who have been arrested in connection with the gangrape of a software professional here.
The executive body of the Bar Association of Ranga Reddy District Courts unanimously passed a resolution condemning the incident and announcing that advocates practising in Ranga Reddy courts would not defend the accused in the gangrape case.
"The executive body took a decision requesting all advocates practising in Ranga Reddy's district courts not to defend the two accused," Bar Association president K Raj Reddy told PTI here today.
The Association also requested the police to keep the accused in judicial custody as long as the trial is on. It said that the case should be disposed off immediately to ensure that the accused are awarded capital punishment.

Meanwhile, car drivers Satish and Venkateshwarlu, arrested by the Cyberabad Police yesterday for allegedly abducting and raping a 22-year-old software professional, were produced before the Kukatpally Metropolitan Magistrate's court today, which sent them to judicial custody for 14 days.
