Judicial work in various courts in Odisha was paralysed as lawyers abstained from work to protest against the Bar Council of India for not taking stakeholders into confidence before submitting a report on the proposed amendment to the Advocates Act, 1961.
The call for boycott was made by the Odisha State Bar Council last week against the Bar Council of India for not taking the stakeholders into confidence before submitting a report to the Law Commission on the proposed amendment to the Advocates Act.
The state Bar Council had requested the Bar Associations across the state to boycott the courts, including Odisha High Court, for a day.
