Naidu, who held a review with ministers and officials on optical fibre grid today, said the works related to the project be started by the Dasara festival season (in October) this year and complete them by 2018, a state government release said.
State IT Advisor J Satyanarayana, who made a presentation, said the project would cost Rs 4,660 crore. The Centre would provide Rs 3,840 crore and that the state's share would be Rs 820 crore.
The state government plans to provide free wi-fi across the state and free connectivity to 46,000 government offices and educational institutions and hospitals, among others, through the project, the release added.
