LDF govt keen to open NORKA cell in countries with large

The Kerala government today said it was prepared to open Non-Resident Keralites Affairs cell in countries where there is a large population of expatriates from the state.

"If the External Affairs ministry permits, Kerala is prepared to open NORKA cell in Indian embassies in countries where there is a large population of Keralites," Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said.

Vijayan said there were several instances of Indians going abroad in search of jobs, getting cheated and cases being registered against them.

External Affairs ministry should intervene to help them in such matters, he said.

In case the recruitments are held through the embassies, there can be solutions to such issues, a press release, quoting the chief minister, said.

Embassies should be aware of the sponsors. All legal help should be provided to those NRIs against whom cases are registered, he said.
