"It is true that we are conducting rallies, meetings in various districts. But still there are some deficiencies in terms of strength," Bhattacharjee said in an interview to the CPI(M) website.
"That is why we are trying to bring in people from outside the Left Front who are disgruntled with Trinamool. We are also trying to reach out to those who are forced to stay aloof in the face of the ruling party's onslaught. If we are able to bring them to our fold, our mission will be fulfilled, not before that," he said.
"We are concerned over the happenings around us which include law and order, death of farmers and tea garden workers, chaos in educational institutes etc. The main problem faced by the state is unemployment and stalling of industrialisation," Bhattacharjee said.
"In the last year of the Left Front government in West Bengal we had brought in Rs 15,000 crore of investments. But now everything has stopped," he claimed.
"The condition of economy is downward. There are wrong projection of GDP. At the end of the day the fact is that common people are finding it tough to have basic meal and the Prime Minister is busy doing 'Mann Ki Baat'," he said.
