Upping the ante against the communal hate offensive "unleashed by RSS/BJP", Left parties today announced that it will hold a nationwide campaign from December 1 to 6.
A decision in this regard was taken during a six-party meeting of CPI(M), CPI, CPI(ML), Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP), All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) and SUCI(C) held here.
"The Left Parties will launch a nationwide campaign against the communal hate offensive spearheaded by the RSS and patronised by this BJP led government, from 1st to 6th December 2015 through various forms of protest," the parties said in a joint statement.
The parties congratulated Bihar voters for the "humiliating" defeat of BJP and claimed the United Left bloc campaign was well received by people of the state where the Front won three seats.
They also condemned "vilification" against intellectuals protesting "intolerance".
Expressing solidarity with scholars expressing concerns over alleged "growing intolerance" in the country, the communist outfits saluted litterateurs, scientists, historians, film personalities and intellectuals who have "bravely risen against the growing communal hate and polarisation unleashed by the RSS/BJP".
The meeting was attended by CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury, his predecessor Prakash Karat and party politburo member S Ramchandran Pillai.
On behalf of CPI, general secretary S Sudhakar Reddy, party veteran A B Bardhan and national secretary D Raja took part in the discussion.
CPI(ML) general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharjee, party politburo member Swapan Mukherjee, AIFB secretary Devrajan, Abani Roy of RSP and Krishna Chakraborthy and Pran Sharma of SUCI(C) were the other leaders attending the meeting.
