A woman and her son were seriously injured by a leopard which strayed into their house in Assam's Nagaon district today, a forest official said.
The leopard, suspected to have strayed from the nearby Burapahar range of Kaziranga National Park, entered the house at Baghjan under Kaliabor sub-division of the district this afternoon and attacked both the woman and her son.
The duo, identified as Pushpalata Phukan and Lakhyadhar Phukan, were critically injured and have been referred to Guwahati Medical College Hospital.
The family members locked the leopard in a room and informed the forest department whose employees rushed to the spot, tranquillised the animal and took it away.
