Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal today held a meeting to review the status of dengue, chikungunya and swine flue in the national capital.
The city has reported 1,730 dengue cases so far while the total number of chikungunya cases stands at 432. The national capital has also been battling with the rising number of swine flu cases.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Health Minister Satyendar Jain, the chief secretary and other officers concerned.
Expressing concern on the spread of swine flu, Baijal directed the health department to co-ordinate with experts from National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) regarding the current circulating strain of influenza virus, its virulence and guidelines for prevention and management so that a better coordinated response can be formulated.
According to the LG office, he appreciated the efforts of all stakeholders towards controlling vector-borne diseases so far and emphasised that the same momentum should be continued till the end of October 2017 by which time the peak season for the spread of these diseases should start subsiding.
