Liberalisation policy depriving farmers: AIKS

Alleging that the central and state governments are depriving farmers of their due, the All India Kisan Sabha today demanded elimination of middlemen from schemes meant for the rural areas and adequate remuneration of agricultural crops.
This view emerged during the three-day long state conference of the All India Kisan Sabha which concluded here today.
Speaking during an open session during the concluding ceremony, former MP Hannan Mulla said, "globalisation and liberalisation" have resulted in disparity in growth and led to major problems for the farm sector and the peasantry in India.
He also accused the Assam government of failing to take steps for the benefit of farmers and said the state government has adopted a lukewarm attitude towards implementing schemes for agriculture sector.

He said farmers in the state are not getting minimum support price for their crops as the government's procurement policy has failed.
