Accusing the NDA government of failing to fulfil poll promises, senior Congress leader Sheila Dikshit today said lies do not last long in politics and the people are now remembering the Congress.
She also attacked the Arvind Kejriwal government, alleging no work has been done in the city in the last three years as the chief minister is busy getting into confrontation with the Lt Governor.
"People are now thinking of the Congress. Congress was always true to its words or it would say something only after delivering on the ground.
"You can see for yourself 2G,3G all turned out to be false. There can be ups and downs, but I believe that lies do no last long in politics," Dikshit, who has been a three-time chief minister of Delhi, said in an interview to PTI-Bhasha.
Referring to the functioning of the central government, she said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a good orator and spokesperson, but there is very little visible work on the ground.
"The way he talks about development, we can't see it happening. Bullet train, GST, note ban... what was achieved by all this? Overall whatever expectations were there, they have not been met," she said.
Replying to a question, she said that Congress chief Rahul Gandhi was gaining experience every day and had matured enough to run the party effectively.
"I am confident that the way BJP government is functioning, the Congress will see resurgence under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi," Dikshit said.
On the role of veterans, she said Rahul Gandhi has already stated that he needs experience as well as a new direction and will take everyone along.
Asked about the emergence of new faces in the party, she said it is a challenge for the party on how to properly use these leaders who have a "new kind of thinking" and said the party is up to it.
Targeting the Kejriwal Government, she claimed whatever works were started by her government have been lying unfinished under the AAP rule. She cited the example of the Signature Bridge and green drive.
She also questioned the Delhi Government's claims about improvement in schools and hospitals. "The fact is the drop-out rate has increased. You go to a government hospital, the doctors are hassled, medicines are not available.
"Kejriwal's real face is now visible and the people can see it," she said.
"There is one more thing, about confrontation. If you are at loggerheads with the Centre, with the Lt Governor, then you will be busy in confrontation. When will you get time to work?" she said .
