Carcass of leopard consigned to flames

The carcass of a male leopard, which was allegedly killed by locals, was consigned to flames here today, forest officials said.
Representatives of the district administration and a local village head was also present there, they said.
The locals killed the leopard yesterday after it had created panic in Ujani Gayan Gaon area, Deputy Conservator of Forests N N Deka said.
It had injured 11 persons, including two police personnel, Deka said.
The leopard was hacked to death by angry villagers, he said.
All the eleven injured persons have been admitted to Jorhat Medical College Hospital and their condition is stated to be stable, Deka added.
