Light to moderate rain, thundershowers lash parts of UP

Light to moderate rain and thundershowers occurred at isolated places over Uttar Pradesh in the last 24 hours.
According to the MeT department here, chief amount of rainfall recorded in cm was at Kaiserganj 5, Mauranipur 3, Nighasan, Baheri, Nawabganj 2 each, Harriya, Palliakalan, Maharajganj, Sitapur, Lalitpur, Bisalpur and Pawayan 1 each.
The Central Water Commission said that Ramganga was rising menacingly at Moradabad and Sharda was flowing at the danger mark at Palia Kalan.
A report from Barabanki said that though Ghaghra has shown a receding trend at the Elgin bridge, the danger of erosion has risen. All out efforts were on to strengthen the Charsandi embankment.

The MeT department has forecast that rain/thundershowers would occur at isolated places over the state tomorrow while heavy rainfall was likely at isolated places over north-east and north-west UP on July 6.
