A state-of-the-art linear accelerator for radiotherapy was inaugurated at Narayana Superspeciality Hospital in Howrah district today, the hospital said in a statement.
This is the first such technology available in the 13 states of Eastern and North-Eastern India, the hospital claimed.
Developed by Swedish company Elekta, the accelerator Versa HD can deliver conventional radiotherapy and a variety of indications and treatment techniques, it said.
The facility will enable ultimate clinical flexibility and operational efficiency for reduced treatment times and increased patient volume.
Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, CMD, Biocon inaugurated the facility at the hospital.
