Police officials said the incident happened at Khagra locality of the district headquarters and the lineman of power utility has been identified as one Zakir Hussain.
"Hussain got electrocuted when power supply to the transformer resumed even as he was repairing it. He was declared brought dead at government hospital," a police officer said.
Family members and friends of Hussain ransacked the hospital as patients and doctors tried to flee.
Later on, Sub-divisional Officer (SDO) Mohammad Qasim and area's Station House Officer (SHO) Vinod Kumar pacified the mob and ordered post-mortem of the body.
