About 140 liquor bottles worth Rs 35,000 were today found stolen from a government run liquor shop near Melur here, police said.
The employees on opening the shop, run by Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation, this morning found the liquor bottles missing and a big hole in the wall at the rear.
Police said the robbers might have drilled the hole in the wall and gained entry to the shop mid-night last night.
A letter challenging the police, saying "we (three persons) are involved in this robbery, if possible catch us" was also recovered from the shop, they said.
