In the guise of buying liquor, three men had yesterday set afire a Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) outlet in T Nagar area here.
The fire, during evening rush-hour, led to anxious moments for the residents of the busy neighbourhood as the attack came against the backdrop of sustained protests against liquor shops and some previous attacks on liquor outlets in some parts of Tamil Nadu.
After investigations, police arrested P Ramachandran, K Guna, and S Kannan today who allegedly torched the shop.
The salesman of the shop, which gutted partially, R Palanivelu had sustained burn injuries and was admitted to a hospital.
