Liquor seized in Punjab

Police today seized 50 cartons of liquour, allegedly meant to be distributed among voters prior to the panchayat polls and two persons arrested in this connection.
An SUV was intercepted in Shahpur jajan village and the liquor was seized from the vehicle, SHO Satpal Singh said.
Inderjit Singh, a resident of Kotli Mian, and Jagjit Singh, a resident of Chhehartta, who were seated in the vehicle were arrested, he said.
Accused claimed that the liquor was brought to the village in view of Panchayat elections, the police official said.
