In a drive against use of liquor to woo voters, the excise department today seized 230 cartons of smuggled liquor, worth above Rs 10 lakh from Indinkerpur and Kinoni villages of the district.
District Excise Officer Kunendra Singh told newsmen here that the seized liquor was to be used to attract voters for the upcoming panchayat polls on October 29.
As many as six people have been booked in this connection under various sections of IPC and Excise Act, Singh said.
The accused are absconding, he added.
