Lord Venkateswara Tirupati Balaji Temple under Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust, Kurukshetra, was opened to public today.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said the temple would become a hub of tourists and devotees, especially from north India.

Built near Brahma Sarovar and spread over 5.52 acres of land, the temple is biggest in north India. An amount of about Rs 34 crore would be spent on the construction of this entire project, out of which Rs 18 crore has already been spent, an official statement said.

It took hard work of thousands of contractual labourers and 1,500 tonnes of graphite brought from Tamil Nadu to complete the miniature replica of the famous Tirupati temple, it said.

The chief minister said with the construction of this temple, Haryana would also be known for pilgrimage to Balaji at the international level.

Earlier, the Chief Minister, along with Haryana's Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Krishan Kumar Bedi, Thanesar MLA Subhash Sudha and others performed a 'puja' amidst chants by scholar Srinivasa from Andhra Pradeshe.

The temple would remain open from 6 am to 9 pm for the pilgrims.
