"I am deeply pained to learn about the demise of Rabi Ray. He was endowed with inherent simplicity and had deep faith in humanist ideals and democratic ethos," Mahajan said in a statement.
As Lok Sabha Speaker, he conducted the proceedings of the House with ease, affability, simplicity and upheld prestige and dignity of the Chair, she said while extending her condolences to Ray's family members.
Ray passed away today due to age-related ailments at SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack. He was 90.
