A Ludhiana court today issued a fresh non-bailable warrant against actress Rakhi Sawant for allegedly making "objectionable" remarks against Valmiki, the author of the epic Ramayana.
Judicial Magistrate Vishav Gupta issued the warrant against her after she skipped the hearing today. He asked the police commissioner of Ludhiana to ensure tht she was presented before the court on July 7.
Arguing on behalf of her, lawyer Rajneesh Lakhanpal told the court her client had not spoken against the sage.
Apart from this, she had also tendered "an unconditional apology" to the Valmiki fraternity, he said.
A local advocate, Narinder Adiya, had filed a complaint against Rakhi on July 9 last year, claiming that her comments -- allegedly made in a programme on a private television channel last year -- had hurt the sentiments of the Valmiki community.
The Judicial Magistrate's court had issued an arrest warrant against her on March 9.
On the instructions of the court, a two-member team of the Ludhiana police left for Mumbai with the arrest warrant in April, but returned to say she could not be found at her address.
