Lufthansa to fly Boeing 747-8 plane in Mumbai-Frankfurt route

German carrier Lufthansa will fly its state-of-the-art Boeing 747-8 aircraft on the Mumbai-Frankfurt route from October 30.
At present, Lufthansa operates Boeing 747-400 on this route.
The airline originally was to deploy its flagship aircraft on the route in 2014 but shelved the plans after it failed to secure a parking bay for the plane at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in the country's financial capital.
Starting October 30, the 'Queen of Skies' will offer its passengers an enhanced comfort, experience and new technology including premium on board products like modern cabin design concepts and most up-to-date onboard amenities in all classes, Lufthansa said in a release today.

"Adding to the festive cheer, we bring the Queen of Skies (B747-8) to Mumbai, one of the most important cities in the world and a key destination in our global network. The deployment of Boeing 747-8 shows once again our strong commitment to the Indian market," Lufthansa Passenger Airlines director for South Asia Wolfgang Will said.
On the Mumbai-Frankfurt route, the Boeing 747-8 is configured to seat a total of 364 passengers with eight in first class, 80 in business, 32 in premium economy and rest 244 in economy, the release said.
Lufthansa currently operates 60 flights per week to five Indian airports --Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru and Pune.
