A training module on how to deal with naxalism has received lukewarm response from IAS, IPS and IFoS officers prompting the Centre to send a reminder to the state governments.
The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) had last month written to Chief Secretaries of eight states seeking nomination of at least three officers each from Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Forest Service (IFoS) for the course.
The nominated officers would be trained by armed forces personnel at the Chhattisgarh Academy of Administration, Raipur, during October 15-17.
"It is understood that no nomination in respect of IAS, IPS and IFoS (officers) has been received at Chhattisgarh Academy of Administration, Raipur, from your state," the DoPT said in a reminder issued today to Chief Secretaries of Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra and Jharkhand.
The Chief Secretaries of these states have been "once again requested" to depute suitable officers to participate in the proposed programme by October 13.
The Government of India has been organising mid-career interactions between the armed forces and civil services officers in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence for the last many years.
The basic objective of the programme is to increase exposure of IAS, IPS, IFoS and other civil services officers to the military, so as to effectively handle unforeseen situations at short notice.
