The Madras High Court today granted anticipatory bail to a former vice-chancellor of Tamil Nadu's Dr Ambedkar Law University and four others in a case of alleged irregularities in admission to NRI seats.
Justice A D Jagadish Chandra directed P Vanangamudi and others to appear before the investigating officer twice daily in the morning and evening for a week and thereafter as and when required by the official.
They moved the advance bail plea apprehending arrest.
The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) had registered the case against them for alleged amassment of huge wealth by corrupt and fraudulent manner, disproportionate to their known sources of income.
Denying the allegations, Vanagamudi submitted that the entire complaint was concocted and lodged only to harass him.
